I just love the embassies and consulates of the great U.S. of A.!
ARGENTINA:
The U.S. Ambassador's residence in Buenos Aires, Argentina, is out of a fairy tale. Even the back of it is stunningly graceful:

It's called the Palacio Bosch. How lucky our ambassadors are to live there, double stone staircases ( I'd have to find the elevator to save my poor feet), sinuous banisters, and soaring skylights and all!

MOROCCO:
I have a special love for the small U.S. Consulate General's residence in Casablanca, Morocco, below. It's partly because of our long, almost unprecedented relationship with close ally, Morocco.
Not everyone knows that Morocco was the first country in the world to recognize the new country of the United States in the 1770's, the beginning of a long friendship. The residence is called the Villa Mirador:

The map room is soaked in history-- Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt had an important World War II meeting here, the Casablanca War Conference:

The Villa Mirador commemorates that with this photo of them here:

Other historic photos in the Map/ War Room--

The villa possesses a charming intimacy, not found in many of the bigger, grander U.S. official residences. Love it:

THE UNITED KINGDOM:
And finally, of the big, "major" residences, London's famed Winfield House, where all Amercan ambassadors live in the U.K., is a favorite. Serene and beautiful.

I'm sure that even the grandest residences, with magnificent public rooms, have much cozier "private" areas too, much like the White House does.
As you'd expect, the gardens at Winfield House are enticing--

It's nice to know that a magnificent country like the United States is so well-represented in its residences around the world. I'd love to take an extended tour, and could be available to attend receptions, ha.
