Re: Non-Conventional Craftsman Kitchen Update

The only thing I do NOT like is that it is a galley kitchen!

I'd love the design but would be ripping walls out!

I agree if this is as narrow as it looks, the rug makes it look even more narrow.

Re: Non-Conventional Craftsman Kitchen Update

I don't consider this a galley kitchen. Looks like a good size IMO.

If you want to see galley check mine out. It's a glorified hallway but it works. There is no way to make mine larger unless we moved into the living room than we would have to add on to the house so we would have a large enough living space. Ours may be small but it's nice. Wish they would get our backsplash installed so we can be done.

This kitchen is really pretty.  It reminded me of one of Joanna Gaines (from Fixer Upper on HGTV) kitchens.  It was in a small cottage type house.

@Nightowlz   A galley kitchen is long and narrow with cabinets and appliances lining the walls.  Although not as narrow as a hallway, this room qualifies for the definition.

If well planned, a galley kitchen can be an efficient workhorse, saving unecessary steps and time in cleaning.  I do not see that forethought of layout in this example.

It is a pretty kitchen, but an impractical one.  The three main elements, i.e., stove, sink and refrigerator are too far apart for efficiency.  That table in the center of the galley kitchen would cause too much walking around it.  A rug in the kitchen?

@IamMrsG

I like the looks of the kitchen, but I also agree with your assessment. It's not very practical. The only rug in our kitchen is one of those memory foam mats at the sink that we can wipe off.

That would be ours. Not finished remodeling yet. Still waiting on tile & backsplash. I guess the place we ordered tile from some are out sick. Still have to paint.

Kitchen is a mess in the pics. We were getting ready to get a bite to eat. DH had to install more tile under where the old fridge & new fridge go. We got rid of our dishwasher & installed cabinet for RO plus room for larger fridge. We did finally get the fridge but it's not in the pics.

Glorified Galley kitchen. LOL!!! It is what it is. Love my new drawers. Makes is so much easier to find things.

We did not want to mess with the soffit removal with electric & plumbing in it. I found this fix online.

New pantry cabinets in the dining room. Now I need to add one leaf back to table & replace that ugly ceiling fan.

Re: Non-Conventional Craftsman Kitchen Update

@Nightowlz  See, now that's what I mean about a workhorse kitchen!

The refrigerator (or space for it), sink and stove are in close proximity, saving steps back 'n forth. There's no table/island between them to block flow, but there is still plenty of countertop workspace. The lighting seems to be plentiful as well.  Drawers are said to be more efficient than shelves, giving better options for organization and easy reach.

My two favorite features of your kitchen are your soffit solution (clever) and that wall of cabinets.  I let out a loud, "WOW!" when I scrolled down to it.  Lucky you!

Thank you for sharing the photos.

The rug and chandelier do not fit in.  It would look better with a sisal or jute rug and a different hanging fixture that compliments the cabinets.  I am not sure I like that long white table.
