Re: No UPS prepaid Amazon return label but he demanded the package......BEWARE!

Hi mominohio,

Thanks for your reply and even though I try to always believe the good in everyone.

Clearly I knew there were problems with this particular UPS employee attributed to his demeanor, which was arrogant, and intimidating by yelling and demanding the package be given to him without any UPS return prepaid label nor any UPS hand held scanner scan which is done when the UPS label is placed on the package, and then the UPS bar code is scanned in.

Then there is also the highly questionable abrasive demeanor he exhibited by yelling at me and saying I do not trust him, .....well he got that right, and in his angry belligerent state I do not believe any UPS consumer would trust him.

I trust my gut feelings, and they are usually correct. I did not feel intimidated by his actions and let that be known by my demeanor.

I trust the fact that no UPS employee would ever show up without a UPS prepaid label on an Amazon defective product return, unless their motives were highly questionable.

I was right to feel the way I do because UPS training, or lack of UPS training does not diminish the fact that this particular person was belligerent, intimidating, and dishonest in general and also work related.

Falsifying his daily UPS activity report and then having it displayed on UPS.com stating the package was not ready on the first pick up, is a blatant lie, and the UPS Depot Manager knew this.

Taking everything under consideration I tend to trust that he may not be servicing the public anymore, because in view of his anger, belligerence, and verbal intimidation tactics which all failed, he should not be allowed to deliver or pick up anything from private residences or businesses. He really needs lessons in honesty and anger management.

It is one thing perhaps not to receive proper UPS training, but to have the audacity to yell and demand a package from a UPS customer when you do not have the return prepaid UPS label, and then deliberately falsifying your UPS daily activity report, as well as knowing it will post on UPS.com is just not only dishonest, but are intolerable highly unacceptable combinations of actions in my book, that merit dismissal. His deplorable questionable angry actions can also eventually prove a true danger to the general public.

All UPS consumers must feel safe in dealing with UPS carriers since many carriers step into their homes and businesses, and if they do not feel safe and treated with respect and civility, then those UPS consumers should report the incident.

"We have enough to worry about in this world, without worrying about the mental stability or instability of UPS employees, who serve the general public".

Thanks for your reply mominohio, but I cannot say his actions merit any proper training consideration, because they were offensive to me as well as totally dishonest and unacceptable by myself, UPS, and Amazon.

BTW I own property in Westlake in Ohio, and all the UPS carriers there were always very respectable and very humble when they picked up or delivered items, and extremely grateful when they received any gratuity.

thanks for the story,

interesting,

possible that some of these drivers just look thru pick ups that are scheduled for the day and decide just to do this on the chance they could get something good? Fake the records and go on their way.

Unlikely - each package has to be accounted for so it's not as easy as just falsifying records and walking off with a package. My DH has worked for UPS for 35 years. To begin with, all drivers are searched entering and exiting the building. The new computer system they work under tracks whether he buckles his seat belt, closes the door between the driver's cabin and the box, tracks how long he's out of the truck to deliver a package or take a break - the DIAD (the handheld computer) has a GPS tracking device as does his truck. They are given a route each morning based on the best gas/time economy and they are tracked for each package and if it was delivered or picked up according to the delivery schedule or was off schedule. Every package has to be accounted for.

I agree with the other UPS wife - new or substitute drivers aren't always given training on the route, but they are constantly being tested on protocol, safety regs, Dept of Transportation rules, etc. This past week, corporate auditors were at my DH's center and they would walk up to a driver, ask them a question from the rules & regs, If they didn't get the correct answer, that driver was scheduled for extra training.

That being said, there was absolutely no excuse for belligerent or rude behavior by a UPS driver whatsoever. A local driver was recently fired for arguing with a customer, so such behavior isn't tolerated within UPS. Reporting a driver is the correct thing to do. UPS does work hard to gain peoples' trust and respect, but human behavior is what it is and some, regardless of any training, just don't respect others - that can't be trained.

If that had happened to me, I would have called the Sheriff while he was on my porch, then called UPS.

Re: No UPS prepaid Amazon return label but he demanded the package......BEWARE!

As promised by the HP Depot Manager a different UPS carrier arrived on Monday with the Amazon prepaid UPS ground return label.

He was very respectful and professional, and placed the required label on to my return amazon package, and then scanned the bar code in before he left.

It was a pleasure, as opposed to the horrific experience I encountered last week noted above.

The Amazon rep called to inquire if the item was picked up by UPS with the label on Monday and I confirmed it was.

Later yesterday the UPS Depot Manager called me again to inquire if everything was above board, courteous, respectful, and met with my UPS consumer standards, and UPS guidelines he had discussed with me.

I thanked him and said yes it was quite courteous, and very professional, and exactly what I expected from a UPS employee.

Finally a company which contact consumers directly.

A Depot Manager who really does address the UPS consumer's concerns and then contacts them again to ensure everything went well, was professionally and courteously enacted to the consumer's satisfaction, as well as having met UPS" guidelines discussed with me.

Way to go UPS and Amazon.com!
