I need to know how long it takes to cook a pot of red beans in the slow cooker please.

The package should say how long to simmer the beans or even look online.

Problem with that advice is that I bought fresh black eye peas for New Years and it took me 3 times as long to get the to where the perfect texture.

You can go by basic guidelines but they do have the 5 bean test. When cooking time is over take 5 beans out to taste and if the majority are finished your to your desired taste texture, your good.  Adding salt stops the beans from cooking but when you use smoke meat or ham bones they have salt so it can slow down the cooking time .
