I also think a wood molding around the outside of that niche would make it look much richer.

Hahahaha.  I'm not a niche fan.

When we redid our bathroom, the designer wanted us to do a niche in our shower and I told her no.  We picked out the tile, etc. and went to go over her drawings and she put a niche in.  I told her to take it out.  Down the line she ended up putting it back in.  I took it back out.  LOL

Re: Niche: Before and After

Gosh, I hope the turtle shells were either found or are fake!  I do like the after though.  I don't really like books turned that way though.  I feel like if you're going to have books you should know what they are!  It probably doesn't matter for that few books though, and it wouldn't really look that good with the names of the books showing.

I had a decorator help me about ten years ago, and she wanted me to turn all the books in my bookshelves in my office around like that.  I wouldn't do it.  I would never know where anything was.

The before is bland.  The after is much more interesting.

I have three niche's.  I might tile the back of two of them.

I didn't think about shelves................hmmmmm, that's another idea.
