New dishwasher recommendations, please

Before we send our elderly Kitchen Aide to dishwasher heaven, I will appreciate your recommendations and recent experiences experiences to help guide my purchasing decision. BTW, this model is about 12 years old and was in the house when we moved in about 8 years go. It has never performed well. It is used about twice a week and just to do the basics, plates, cups, glasses, etc. Thanks for your thoughts, pro and con.
