I just read there is a new Dawn Dishwasher Power Spray.  The article said we have been washing dishes wrong.  The original Dawn isn't designed for the way we live now.  A clean as you go society.  This new spray doesn't need water to make suds.

Evidently the regular Dawn was for putting in a sink of hot water to do your whole stack of dishes, not for putting directly on a couple of dishes or a sponge to clean as you go.

The whole thing make no sense, as long as hot water and dish liquid clean your dishes who cares how it gets there.  Of course, the new spray Dawn will be $2 more than the regular Dawn.

We have a dishwasher but do some things by hand when necessary.  And yes, I sometimes put a squirt on the dish/pan/glass and wash it under hot water. Before the dishwasher I did the sink full of hot sudsy water.

Re: New Dawn Dishwash Spray.

I don't have a dishwasher so I've always hand washed.

I've always filled the sink up with hot water and washed all the dishes together.  A spoonful of dish soap, scalding hot water, let all the dishes soak for a bit, then scrub away.

Lol, I never knew there was another way.

I use Dawn and love it.   I guess every company will try and broaden their business with new products.   I have not seen or tried the new spray but maybe it would be good for people who do not have a lot of dishes to wash or maybe in dorm rooms.   Woman Wink

More plastic to add to the already growing heaping pile of plastic containers. This kind of marketing has got to stop.

I had to laugh at the very thought of this. LOL They are wanting you to pay MORE for something you can do for LESS money. However, I understand it may benefit a certain segment of the population. I concur with @MezzieStarr  on this one. If you only have a few dishes to clean, a squirt of Dawn or dishwashing liquid of choice, a sponge, some hot or cold water and voila-clean dishes. I have not seen the advertisement, so I will withhold my final judgement until I can research it. I can see it being appealing to the" housework challenged" generation.

Re: New Dawn Dishwash Spray.

For several years now I've kept a 12 oz. spray bottle ( I think I got them from Amazon, but lots of places carry them) by my kitchen sink filled with a solution of regular blue Dawn & the green colored Dawn Antibacterial Apple Blossom scent & then water.  I don't have a certain ratio, I just eyeball it until the color looks right & is a pretty greenish turquoise almost the color of Windex.

When I rinse off my dishes after eating & before I load them in the dishwasher, I spray them with the soap mixture & use a dish brush on anything cooked on with hot water.  I also use the soap mixture to scrub down my SS sink & sink mat & also my garbage disposal & the rubber gasket.  I think using the Dawn cuts down on the amount of grease that may inadvertantly go down the sink drain, even though I wipe things out pretty well before they go in the sink.

The product name is confusing 'dishwasher' power spray sounds like something you would spray on dishes before loading into a dishwasher to maybe boost cleaning performance. It does not sound like the same product, such as a "dishwashing liquid" that is used to wash a sink full of dishes. Maybe the dishwasher power spray serves a different purpose.

@Pipsqueak  You are right.  Sorry about any confusion. It's a spray for handwashing dishes.

Man, I had a very bad brain hiccup.  I can't even plead it's a Monday.
