I would just install new toilets. Lowes or HD would gladly get it done for you.

I saw the Ring Eraser in the Vermont Country store. Looks like it got good reviews. It's a pumice stone on a stick. Maybe the local hardware store would have that.

Seems like I've seen a pumice stone for the toilet at Walmart. That's what I'd use for a lime build-up. I've used them before and was pleased with the results.

I use denture cleaning tablets. Throw one or two in at night and swish in the morning. My toilets are relatively new and where I live the water is soft, so I'm not sure how well it works with hard water and older stains. It beats scrubbing.

I had been using a pumice stone, but I have read somewhere that the pumice stone will actually damage the porcelain; anyone else heard this? My husband uses the acid. I have very hard water so I struggle with this constantly. I will try the sandpaper and see how that goes.

I had the same problem prior to connecting to public water, and The Works liquid bowl cleaner worked for me. Bleach will not work on what you have described. Denture tablets will work if the sediment stain is mild. If the sediment stain is old, or heavy, an iron/ rust product is the way to go. the Works product smells like it has an iron removing agent in it, and I could see it dissolve the sediment from my toilet bowl as I squirted the product into the bowl. This was the only product that worked for me when we used our well water.

We moved from the big city to a house that has well water. Nothing seems to move the build up but a scour stick. It's very effective...

Ditto the pumice stone (scour stick) my son had raised rings in sinks, tub and toilet and with very little pressure, removed these. Light and steady touch.

OMG!! Laughing so hard over this, No, I haven't tried it, but if it works, can you even imagine how clean your insides must be if you drink it. Or rotted out.{#emotions_dlg.laugh}
