Need help with window treatments...

Kitchen window. It's a bump out but looks like a bay window (box style). Windows are 7 feet high by 24 inches wide and there are 3 of them. There is 4 inches between the windows. Each window has mini blinds on it. The top of the window/mini blind is right at the top where the ceiling hits.

I want to install some type of window treatment to soften and warm up the kitchen area. This is our eating area and it's a big area that is right off the kitchen (galley). This is a townhouse, btw. I don't want anything to the floor, a simple valance looks terrible due to the long and skinny look of the windows. I'm thinking of a classic swag with no valance as there is no room for one (width wise).

Country Curtains has what I want: classic design, sage color, simple. (Swag 51738 (S4) 45" Length in catalog and online). Problem: Each swag set is 82" wide flat. If shirred on a rod (and using the 50% rule) that would bring each set to 40" in width. That's still double the size of each window.

I have spent a year looking for something to fit these windows and NOTHING comes close in size. I mean, who does 3 skinny windows like this? The design of my house is a "Contemporary Victorian". What?

Had to be a man.

Help. PLEASE... help me. Options, will it work, ANY advice would be great.

White plantation shutters always look great.

@colliegirls, totally agree.  However, if you don't plan to stay awhile here, they are pretty expensive.  You get perfect light control with the shutters and they are a dream to have.  LM

Re: Need help with window treatments...

Plantation shutters would be great but the mini blinds were installed throughout the entire house (20  windows) just before I moved in and they are top of the line quality. That was figured into the price of the house (as well as other remodeling issues). In addition, we won't be here beyond 5 years and will most likely keep this as a rental property.

Next house, lol.

@SahmIam, I wouldn't install shutters if I were planning to move.  I put them in my retirement home cause I'm staying here!  LM

Re: Need help with window treatments...

@persiflage  You don't think the Valance will look odd considering the length of the windows?

My goal was to be able to open the mini blinds (or pull them up) so as to just have the view with the multiple swags offering some privacy (daytime) and softening the hard corners.

Should I, instead, treat it as one SINGLE window instead of 3 separate ones and if so, do you have suggestions beyond the swags and valance or will this look good?

I need someone who can decorate to take my hand when it comes to this stuff. Window treatments are not cheap and can make or break a room.

Not sure of your exact window arrangement but here are a few I found might work. You can see and get an idea:

I like this look, Country Curtains has some faux roman shades that you could work with and it would give a more transitional look to the space.  They (the faux romans) could easily be manipulated with either a clip or safety pin to create different hem styles.

Re: Need help with window treatments...

@SahmIam  do you sew? You could purchase drapery fabric from JoAnn Fabric and sew a valance.....maybe just a straight piece of fabric, shirred on a rod...hemmed on all sides.

You could make it fit exactly the width of the windows...no ruffles, no tying, just hanging on a spring rod? I am not sure what length would be best.

I did something similar to my 1- 36" wide kitchen window.  I made mine long enough to hang over another spring rod to give the illusion of a faux roman shade.  It would be much less than ordering from Country Curtains, especially if you are not staying in this home for a length of time.
