Need a New TV Any Recommendations for a One?

We had a Sony for 20 years and had it fixed in 2008 and the TV repair man said that if it breaks down again it wouldn't be woth fixing as it would cost to much. So we would like to get a flat screen but don't have a clue whcih companies make a good one. Any Recommednations for one? TIA
