We have a couple of families of Sand Cranes that have raised their young here in our community.

They stroll along like they own the place!  Fun to watch.  We must have close to a dozen here!

Have some gators in our fountain ponds, too!  We are not far from the Hillsborough river swamp and they roam through frequently, all sizes!  Don't usually stay that long.

Love the ducks and water birds around the ponds.

we have sandhill cranes all over our community and i seem to see the same couples in the same areas every day.   a short golf cart ride away, there is a sandhill crane nest on one of our ponds and one of the chicks just arrived the other day.  so fun to watch.

Today on my way to clubhouse I rode the golf course way ..I saw three sandhill crane families along the way.  I didn't realize this time of year babies are born..they are just so darn cute & fuzzy🥰🥰

I've had Mr & Mrs Quail visiting my yard lately.  I've seen them in other parts of town but never in my neighborhood.  I'm hoping they're nesting around my house and will soon be parading with a clutch of fuzzy little babies.  The mister is one handsome dude.

We just had a pair of quail nesting in one of out backyard shrubs. She dutifully laid 10 eggs and sat on them for 3 weeks. He would spend the day walking back & forth along the back garden wall. Looking for snakes and roadrunners I presume. Only 8 of the eggs hatched but the little walnuts ran around the yard like crazy birds until my DH opened the gate. They are cute little critters.
