My surprise visitor today -- a new baby Sand Crane

[ Edited ]

For about a month I've had this single sand crane "visiting" me -- I truly thought the bright flamingo statutes were what confused him because I don't have bird feeders nor do I ever feed them.

Yesterday for about a hour he was out there just standing & "chirping" well imagine my surprise today ...

I wish I knew how to post video because he was adamant chirping (don't know what to call it) until I came outside...

He had the family with him -- proud daddy we have a new baby sand crane ...

What lovely graceful birds!  I looked them up saw a video and heard their songs!  I can't describe the sounds but I never heard them before.  The don't seem to be afraid and just strut around.  Thanks for sharing, I learned another nature lesson!!!!!!

I've had Mr & Mrs Quail visiting my yard lately.  I've seen them in other parts of town but never in my neighborhood.  I'm hoping they're nesting around my house and will soon be parading with a clutch of fuzzy little babies.  The mister is one handsome dude.

Today's surprise visitor was a box turtle.  I was trying to get into my driveway and he was headed into the cul-de-sac.

Got out of the car, picked "him" up and put him in the yard.

P.S.  Love cranes!  We have sandhill cranes here in New Mexico.

What an amazing picture and such special visitors to have!

They are all so cute, the one wondering if he should make friends with the garden decoration and then deciding to show off the baby!

@homedecor1,  I rotated your lovely pix. 😊

Are you by chance using an iPad?   Off and on there's been a glitch on the site involving iPads (maybe it's iPhones, too) with images showing up either sideways or upside down.

The temporary solution was to edit the image on your iPad (any kind of edit, something simple, but just an edit on your device and then a "save" to the device) before you upload it to the Q.

I found several threads about this, and also the @Community_Team pinned this notice to the top of the forums temporarily until they fixed the problem.

"...When you take a photo with your iPad and do not edit the photo (crop, improve the brightness, etc.) then the photo may appear sdeways to non-iPad users.

If you edit the photo before posting to the forums the photo will be right side up for everyone...

...We hope this helps explain why some photos are not right side up when posted with an iPad."

Try it and see if that works for you.  I wanted to toss this idea into the mix in case it's that old problem popping up again and, if so, this temporary fix might help out.

If you encounter it again you might want to report it to the moderators so they can notify the IT department and let them know your iPad model and iPadOS version (my iPad 6 iPadOS 14.6 isn't having this problem...  so far, that is... 😉).
