So yesterday I finished taking off all wallpaper, filling holes (there were a ton of little holes where they had hung things), cleaning up a bit.  Started sanding the areas where I filled in with my palm sander.  Had to take an exacto knife up to some edges where the wallpaper just wouldn't come from underneath trim.  Today my body is tired - my body doesn't hurt anywhere, it just feels TIRED.  Worked all day till 3:30 p.m. yesterday, slept 10 hours last night but feel bedraggled this morning.  Going to take a small break this morning, get the dogs walked and see if I feel like continuing today or whether I will start up again tomorrow.  We did finally get rain last night - all night!  I will check in with you tomorrow or Saturday to let you know progress.  Getting anxious to paint!

I am intrigued with the basement room! I would love to see the metal kitchen cabinets!

What else is in the basement?

That is a lot of work but I am sure it will look great when it is finished.I have

painting to do this summer and am glad it does not involve peeling off old wallpaper!

@flickerbulb - There is a living room area, a bathroom, kitchen, bedroom and laundry room - the family obviously lived in the basement before building upstairs - I actually had two men pull in my driveway one day saying they were the children of the family and yes, they lived in the basement before building upstairs.  That's when I found out my basement was a lot older than I thought it was.  Of course, I did not let them in my house to see it just for safety purposes.  I originally bought the house with thoughts of renting out the basement one day - still may do it when I'm older.  But my laundry facilities are down there so don't know how that would work.

Re: My summer project - Day 3

My wallpaper adventure was so bad my late DH suggested we actually take it all off down to the frame!!

Which would mean all new drywall, yes it was that bad.    My foyer still doesn't look good.   When the wallpaper came off, the walls were in bad shape.   We were so careful but you can only do so much.   We patched and patched and patched and sanded and sanded and sanded.    We painted over it anyway.

Removing wallpaper is brutal.  I've removed more than my fair share.  My father was big into wallpaper and would put new over old.
