I didn't have a dining room in my old house but brought my living room set to the new place and it fit nicely. I had to buy a DR set for the new house to go with the LR set I had because it's one large room. That was 10 years ago. Now I want to get new LR and I have no idea what to do. I've been to 5 stores so far and I'm overwhelmed. The DR set (I have to keep it) is almond formica with a large formica and glass breakfront. The old LR was a light green sectional with glass and stone tables. Very 80's. I'm getting a sofa, loveseat and chair plus cocktail table and 2 end tables and lamps. I've seen some nice tables but I think the wood is too dark. I haven't seen much with light wood. I don't want too much glass now because I have 2 small Grandchildren. What the heck would go with my DR set? One person said if I keep the fabric on the upholstery light it's ok to have darker tables. My walls and carpet are beig and that will stay. I need color for sure but I have no idea what to do.
