@LTT1 wrote:My 25" in red came... just a warning... the box had a tiny dent which carried over into the seam of the bottom corner. Because this will be sitting on a dark area of our brick hearth, it will never be noticed.
Those who receive a damaged box might want to note this.
You are so right... the packaging was a dream! No need to tear the styrofoam... it comes off in one piece easily!
PS... so lovin that remote!
@LTT1 Our lanterns had 3 pieces on styrofoam on the inside...the square on top of the flame came out in one piece just fine, buy the 2 pieces on either side of the candle on the bottom broke into several bits...hence my mentioning in my last post that was my only issue. Glad you love the remote! ![]()

@Mominohio wrote:I was absolutely certain that this lantern TSV just wasn't for me. I thought it a little to streamlined, beautiful indeed, but just not 'magic' for me.
Now I'm having second thoughts. But only about the big one. If it would pop up in black, I'm thinking I might not be able to resist it.
The more pics I see, the more classic and timeless it seems to me. I have a brick and white sided house with black shutters, and just did over my front porch this spring with black and brown primitive decor (think barn stars and crows and such). The big one, (or the entire set, really) in black would have been stunning out there.
Glad so many people are loving theirs, and I'm thinking they were popular enough to be back at some point.
Oh, woe is me!
@Mominohio Your home sounds wonderful! I couldn't even think of putting these lanterns on our porch without nailing and chaining them down. They would be stolen within a week or less!
If you are lucky to get one of the large black lanterns, you will be thrilled with it ![]()

I get so irked that you can't do outside what you'd like to.
What makes people think they can even touch things that don't belong to them? I just don't get that.

@Mominohio Yep, it boggles the mind. I'll tell you about a few other examples of our neighbors/neighborhood...
I remember when I was growing up, I didn't need to be told to respect other people's property...it was common sense...a given.
Nowadays, it's as if whatever is yours is everyone else's for the taking or destroying. I'll give you two examples...
We have issues with a LOT of neighborhood kids...GRRR. DH and I have yet to figure out what planet they came from...no joke. We have a driveway on about a 30+ degree angle...pretty steep. Some of the neighborhood kids love to ride their skateboards and bikes up and down it. When DH and I have told the kids not to, they run back to their parents and complain that we yelled at them. Then their parents come over and complain to us that to leave their kids alone and let them play and 'be kids and have fun'...
Hmmmm...lets see here...1st, it's OUR property...2nd, those are not our kids, 3rd, we are not getting paid to babysit, 4th, we DO NOT want to be sued if their kids get injured...AGH! The nerve of some people!!!
Then there are kids just to the north of us that love to play ball. I'm tired of retreiving their balls, balls damaging garden plants, denting our air conditioner, and come close to hitting me a few times. No matter how much I plead, they expect their balls back and say they don't do any damage....
So, between those issues, decorations getting stolen, neighbors that fed ferel cats, and having to bring other neighbors to court over dog barking issues, we can't get a winning powerball ticket fast enough to move out to the country with a large enough acreage so we can't see neighbors in any direction! Phooey!

@Susan Louise Yes, I was wondering if the styrofoam will be formed differently for the different sizes!
I am going to start out by putting a siege sheet down first.
the large lantern I set on our recliner to insert batteries/push the button for on.

@Mominohio The outside of your home sounds lovely! Isn't it a shame that some people don't respect others? Same here... Just cannot trust enough in our situation to put these in the front.
We have a covered porch in back with a small round table and this is right outside our high window. Having a lantern with a flicker was always really nice at night. So one of the smaller 19" will be going out there!

I hear you about kids today, or worse yet, their parents.
When we lived in town, we had no kids yet, and spent what very little money we made then on fixing up our little house. Neighborhood parents couldn't understand why we had issue with kids riding bikes in our front yard. Really?
We were raised to never go on other's property unless invited. It was so ingrained in me, that when I went to college at Ohio State University, there is a large grassy court called The Oval in the center of campus, and it has some sidewalks criss crossing it. People walk all over the Oval, getting from one building to another, and it has a bit of a park like atmosphere, especially in the fall. I could never bring myself to stray from the sidewalks, and on to the grass!! It just wasn't allowed when I was being raised. Some things follow you forever!
I think we could use a little more of that today.
