As for living outside the US, many people enjoy the lifestyle and culture of another country. Lots of people move to Costs Rica, Belize, and other Caribbean/Latin American countries. I have a friend who's been living in Belize and running a b and b for over 20 years and she loves it there. Regarding Mexico, there are many US expats there. It's not for everyone, buy you can't base your image of a country on a visit to Tijuana or what Faux News tells you.

There are some lovely places in Mexico that I wouldn't mind living. I love Cabo in particular.
