I like the room itself but I don't care for most of the furniture or its placement.

It reminds me of a nice consignment shop I use to go to. Lots of nice things arranged as nicely as possible but not looking like a home.

Just looks like a well lived in home to me.  Had to search for the "new".  Just hate the zebra pillows

To me, this room just feels like a mish-mash of let's see what's in the garage and put it in the living room.  I do mix more current furniture with antiques, but I do not like flouncy material on chairs and sofas, I need more color in a room, and I like things to look more coordinated than this room does to me.  One thing that I do like is how bright the room is.

The next time that I hear salt and ice together, it better be in a margarita!

It looks like a cluttered mess to me.  Too much going on.......all the prints and stuff on the walls.

More a mix of airy and stuffy than old and new.

I'm ok with mixing old and new, but I don't see many modern pieces except for the sleek black table. I'm not really a fan of most of the furnishings in this room. I don't like the blue chairs or the floral print on the furniture. I like the fireplace, the table near it, and the dresser on the back wall.

In your opinion, is this a "successful" mix of old and new?  This picture came up when I searched for that subject.

I don't think so.  I think it is just a lot of old with a newish coffee table.  There is not a conversational grouping in this room.  The chairs are lined up on all sides of the room, but they need to remove the sofa, remove that strange black coffee table and take the two blue chairs and put them with the love seats in a U-shaped setting for conversation.  Otherwise, it is beginning to look like a furniture store that needs organizing.
