Mild steel in PB shuttered lanterns

Mild steel = steel containing a small percentage of carbon, strong and tough but not readily tempered.

 

I love the beachy look of these shuttered lanterns from Pottery Barn and find they are made of mango wood and "mild" steel.  

 

Too bad they wouldn't do for outdoor use as I am reading that mild steel rusts easily.

It is really pretty. I have many of Pottery Barn Lanterns and they are good quality.....

Beautiful!

 

I think they could go rustic as well as beachy. I would use it on a covered patio area where rain doesn't get in.
