I should be so organized! Maybe she is a novelist and gets inspired in this setting. Maybe she is writing her memoirs. I like the desk and chair style (but not the fabric) and don't see clutter at all. Lamp is a no.

 

The only thing that bothers me is how the rug is buckled and it would be impossible to move the chair closer while seated with it's back legs on the hardwood and the front legs on the rug.  Of course if forced would take it as is. Smiley Happy

Interesting to me that a lot of folks don't like the lamp. This does seem to be a somewhat spindly example of a traditional French bouillotte style lamp, the shades of which often move up or down to increase or decrease available light, but I like the style, overall, I think they were originally inteded to be used with candles and the shades were tole or tin, to avoid fires. Modern versions are, of course, electric.

 

I also like that there's a step up to the French doors but am left wondering what that is sitting on the step and to the right of the desk.
