I would like to enter this room tabula rasa.....like the floors and fireplace  and with a budget in hand...it could be a stunning room.

I feel the same way.  While it's fun to watch TV shows like Mad Men (the clothes look cool on the actors) none of those styles of both home decor & clothes bring back fond memories.  It was uncomfortable then and I can't imagine it being any better today.

I have an Etsy shop and I'm frankly amazed at all of the shops that sell "vintage" clothing! (1960s & 70s).  Yuck!...It's popular with some millenials.

As for home decor, I have to laugh at the term "mid-centruy modern"....it sounds so cool & sophisticated now but from what I remember we used terms like "flower power" & "psychedelic decor".

I have never been a fan of mid century modern but it is popular with some people. With that said, I don't really mind the room except for the blue couch.

It doesn't look comfortable, nor inviting.  Looks more like a waiting room, than someone's home.   That couch is so deep that you'd need all the pillows to be able to sit up straight.  Not a style I'd want to see make a comeback.

This could be a very nice space.

Like the fireplace, the floor, and the brightness from the outside...

First off, I would not of used a gray on th walls. Probably something a shade lighter than the fireplace.

Pretty much all furniture, replaced.I am also seeing a chair and ottoman over by the fireplace instead of the matchy matchy tables, lamps and artwork.

Those two chairs I do like, would look awesome in another color.

That rug is boring. But, still not as much as that hanging light that looks big enough to hang in a small entry...

(Tore that one apart...)

Only thing I liked was the coffee table in middle of room.

I like all the elements, don't like the arrangement.
