I have always preferred big open living spaces.  I don't care for enclosed rooms except for (obviously) bedrooms and bathrooms, and perhaps offices and the like.

I liked the open concept before it was a concept. Woman LOL

Me too !

My condo is an open floor plan with kitchen, dining area and living room open.

I am a fierce clean as you go cook. By the time dinner is ready, there isn't a dirty dish or pan in sight.

I entertain a lot and I like the fact I don't have to be separate from my guests.  Everyone gathers at the island and table for pre-dinner drinks and appetizers.  Much more interactive than closed off rooms.

Sounds like a great idea! I’m also a messy cook. One of the best features of our galley kitchen is the pocket door between the kitchen and dining room. I just slide the door shut before everyone’s seated and no one sees the mess in the kitchen.

Probably cheaper to build a wall to keep the kitchen private.
