Re: Mattress frustration/question

I topped my 10 year old mattress with a 3" gel topper and a Cuddle Ewe underquilt. I don't need another mattress now. I have fibromyalgia, so pressure points are an issue. I wake with much less stiffness. You can also try sleeping on your back. This switch has helped with my pain. I still get onto my side during the night, but starting on my back really helps. I also switch to my back in the morning and stretch. On another thread someone suggested the Classic Brands 14 Inch Gramercy Hybrid Cool Gel Memory Foam and Innerspring Mattress, Queen on Wayfair for the best price. This one has great reviews and a decent price. Wayfair is supposed to have a great return policy too!

When I started to read your post @Tigriss, I thought I'd written it!

when we married, DH and I bought a slab-of-granite rock hard mattress, because they were supposed to be the "best-for-your-back". It was a DOUBLE size, because THEY were supposed to be "best-for-your-marriage".

So, after YEARS of my misery, we went to a foam King, ALSO with the gel topper and Cuddle Ewe. Finally, I stopped blaming MYSELF for my terrible sleep patterns, and put the blame where it belonged!

I'm a side sleeper and can't sleep on my back.

Re: Mattress frustration/question

When you're dealing with pressure points you want a mattress without anything hard under it. A fully foam mattress, waterbed, or air bed would likely be your best options. There's nothing there but foam, water or air. Thicker is better also.

The mattresses that seem to get the best reviews these days are the bed in a box type that come compressed from the factory. There are tons of manufacturers making these now and I suspect they'll be the mattresses of the future. The cost difference is often staggering and buyers seem very, very happy with those mattresses. A few talk about an initial bad smell, but that's about the only complaint you ever hear. They come in innerspiring, foam and combinations.
