I love the floor to ceiling windows. @Oznell I wouldn’t put anything there to obscure the view. I love this house. I could move in and be very happy. The only room I don’t care for is the wood panel. It’s too dark and heavy for me. I would also have a more modern window covering. They have such nice ones you can pull halfway down or adjust to your liking.
I have been to Montana, and I have enjoyed a similar view both times. It is a beautiful state. Some of the travel can be treacherous, and frightening. A lot of the roads winding around the mountains don’t have solid guard rails. I can’t imagine winter driving.
I like living in a populated area, so I would love to move the house into my neighborhood. I’m not much for solitude. Vacation, yes forever home no.
I have been to Montana many times as we have family who have a very large ranch in that state (as well as another family member living in Wyoming). It's worth a trip to go to Montana, then down to Wyoming to see Yellowstone National Park. Head down from Yellowstone to Jackson Hole via the Tetons and have another visual treat. It's so worth the drive.
Western Montana is full of gorgeous mountain views and yes, the driving can be daunting. The folks who live in Montana are not put off by snow on the roads ... they drive fast all the dang time! I'm okay driving in the state during the summer, but leave the winter driving to my husband (and I close my eyes a lot).
The house @Oznell highlights is a spectacular example of western design that I really appreciate seeing. It was just missing the dead animal heads on the walls. (Kidding. I'm not a fan of the trophy animals displayed on walls. Alas, I'm in the minority amongst the in-laws & well, it is THEIR house).

It's an absolutely beautiful house even without the views. I would probably add some prints on some of the decor items if it were my home. With that view, you wouldn't need a lot of competition from busy prints on pillows, throws, bedspreads, etc. but I thought it was a little lacking in that area.

Fantastic view..I love the the floor to ceiling windows. We have them in our Sun Room looking over the Bay.
I may be wrong wrong but I get the impression that the designer or home owner wanted the view to be their art...maybe they though art on the walls would take the eye away from the fabulous scenery.
Love It!

Great point about those western mountain roads, @manny2 ! Oh, boy, I love the mountain west so much, from Idaho and Montana, down right through my beloved Arizona, and points in between, but you're so right about those roads. There was just a funny thread on that in Community Chat, the "Submarines....." one, complete with pictures of the most gruesome cliffside roads and bridges, ack.
How lucky you are to have family with ranches in Wyoming and Montana, @kate2357 . Interestingly, they mentioned that the designer of this house works mostly on urban projects, but is herself from Wyoming. I thought she had a real flair and "feel" for this kind of rustic retreat, and I wonder if her Wyoming background played into that...

I can appreciate this house especially the spectacular views! The bedrooms are comfortable looking and I like the drapes on the windows, that would be a must for me.I would add some decor to fit such a place and also put some art work on the walls. While the scenery is the draw, I would have to make some changes inside.

While I tend towards the traditional when appreciating home design, furniture and window or wall treatments.....this house grabbed me right by my rustic, black and brown, clean line loving throat!!
I can see Oznell's low sofa/bench along the floor line to help a person feel anchored, but it would have to be as visually unobtrusive as possible.
There was a post the other day with a house that had tons of light fixtures and I didn't like a single one of them. This house has some really unique and beautiful ones! The pendants in the kitchen are spectacular and the pendants at the bar are very attractive as well.
That stone wall and fireplace along with the cognac barrel chairs (how cool are those legs!) ...the stoneware pots on the dining room table, the fantastic wood and leather barstool seats in the kitchen, and I think that bathroom might be a perfect 10! There are beautiful standouts everywhere you look in this place.
I would tweak the playroom by using a slightly lighter and maybe a small geometric pattern on the sofa because the gray makes the room seem a bit dark, and the ceiling chandelier fixtures in the living room and bedroom are two things that I'd change if it were up to me, but the sophisticated eye of Oznell has given us yet another chance to appreciate great style and beauty. Thank you so much for all these great posts!
Oh, and I do agree with the posters who said the location is a bit remote.
That Montana view is indeed lovely, but I would have to be able to drive to the other
side of that hill outside the dining room window and be in Boston in under 20 minutes.
Then I would feel like I was in heaven

Oh my goodness.........when can I move in?? Gorgeous views. I would make a few changes if it were my own, but otherwise..........OK!

Wonderful vistas. Such a shame that with all that glass and those stark vistas there's absolutely nothing in the decor to warm the spaces. The interiors strike me as being virtually corporate in nature and uniformly unfortunate. Surprising that icicles don't form in the corners. This look might work in a hostelry, but not, for me, in a home.

Nice house, but I never want to be that isolated. Not even on vacation.
