I have hung on to a 1993 issue of "House Beautiful",  I love this house so much.  Carol Gramm and her husband Jack Bunce, who were both fashion models at the time, built the prettiest house, very personal to them.

She was very traditional, but also rather "spare" in her aesthetic.  She said she liked plenty of space around her.  She had collections, but they were restricted and few.  Old yellowware (which she fully used), candlesticks, old portraits, glass decanters, quilts.  Owners of 6 cats and a dog, the couple slipcovered everything.

What I really like is the simplicity, yet the coziness, and the cohesive vision.

Look at that old, salvaged mantel in the dining room.  Swoon:

Apparently, Carol Gramm eventually developed her own design firm.  Some years later, they moved to Ojai, California, to another pretty, very individual house, where she created a more Western, but very similar look.  Wonder what lucky person lives in the New York house now?!

While it is very pretty in its simplicity, I do not get a cozy feeling, maybe if I saw it in person up close!
