This is almost entirely out of my usual focus of interest, but I thought it was fun, in a light, unserious way. It's a glimpse of Marlo Thomas's New York apartment.
She wanted to reproduce a "California look", way above Central Park in Manhattan! I think it shows that you can do that, and it seems entirely consistent with her. It's kind of a lighthearted, but extravagant Beverly Hills style, sort of reminiscent ( to me) of renowned hostess Betsy Bloomingdale, but a penthouse apartment version--
What a sweet doggie.
First of all, what a view!
And there's a view, plus light, no matter where you look--
For "Open House", she showed a typical spread she'd do when she entertains, using her collection that she did for Williams Sonoma--
She used the ice bucket she designed, as an impromptu vase--
She designed these handsome tortoise-looking glasses, and virtually everything on the table--
One of her treasured Daum lamps, which she said she is terrified of breaking. Distinctive Art Deco pattern...
A lacquered ceiling in a room full of windows, bounces the light around delightfully--
She was looking at various chintzes, for her pillows, and decided she loved them all. She feels it looks like a garden now--
She has wonderful greenery, including palms and orchids, all around--
And blue-and-white is a passion of hers. I always think it looks at home in almost any style, or environment...
Even the pretty mugs she designed carry on the blue and white--
As does her insulated coffee server shown below-- although too pricey for me, I love it. This end of the apartment she considers her library, with its handsome woodwork and lovely sulptural antique Windsors. It's a cozy little oasis.
I got a kick out of this, to me, it just seems like "her", and by that criterion, it's a success.

Her apartment is gorgeous. I wish she would act more. It would be nice to see her in a movie.

@Oznell ,
I was thinking the same thing-that it all seems so like her.
And that is a nice thing to see. It's great to see her. I've always felt she must be as nice as her That Girl she played and her fundraising
contributions.
I like her blue mug so much and its great that she couldn't decide on her pillows and got a garden from it!

The view IS spectacular, although the height is dizzying to me.
The apartment is lovely although not all is to my taste. I would never have thought I'd like a lacquered ceiling but you are so right, it does move the light around perfectly.
I love that she carries on Danny's work with St. Jude. What a wonderful charity.

I would love the lamp. It must be worth a fortune.

I had no idea she was a designer like that. She has done a great job. Looks effortless.

She doesn't even look like Marlo Thomas. Too much PS.
Like the dog.

I don't like it. Too much stuff even if it is pricey. I really don't like her. I love St Jude and What Danny Thomas accomplished in his lifetime.

@Oznell - I love her apartment in NYC, and I adore her pillows paired with those flowers and blue and white vases! I particularly love her doggie, and wish mine were still alive. My dog looked quite a bit like hers.
