If any of you have purchased the luminara lanterns, are you happy with them? Would you purchase again? I am thinking of orderng 3 that are on sale today to go on my fireplace. Or on the floor beside it.

@happycat I purchased my lantern the first time QVC aired them, I love it!

I have never had any problems, I have mine in our master bath and use it in lieu of a nightlight and have the timer set, I was pleasantly surprised at how much light it gives off.

I have several of them and love them all. They do suck down batteries a little faster than my Candle Impressions candles, but Luminara is so pretty and so realistic. I have them set at different timesin each room to come on when I'm in there and they really give the rooms some oompf.....

@happycat

I will say that I have a lot of lanterns, and I bought many from other places, because I liked a more ornate lantern than Luminara usually will offer.

Then I got to thinking about the Luminara, and because of the more 'plain' look of them, how well they are suited for many different styles of decor.

They will blend well with modern, traditional, country, primitive etc, because of their clean lines and basic colors.

So now I have a blend of more ornate lanterns from other places, and more simple ones from Q and Luminara, and I'm happy with the mix.

In my opinion, the Luminara lanterns aren't any better made than many I have found other places (and no worse either, but equal in quality). The candles inside though, are made for indoor and outdoor, and are smooth finish plastic, and rather boring (or, can be looked at as very neutral).

I have many primitive and rustic Luminara and Mirage candles, as well as more elegant Luminara individual candles that I use in other lanterns, and those really give a much richer and interesting look, than the plastic indoor/outdoor candles included in the Luminara lanterns.

The nice thing is that most of the Luminara lanterns now on Q have removable candles, so you can put colored or textured ones inside and change things up a bit if you'd like to.

So if this is your first plunge into lanterns in general, or the Luminara in particular, ask yourself about not only the style and color of the lantern, but the same of the candle inside. If you are looking for plain off white and smooth, they are great. If you would rather have some color or texture to your candle, you can put together something with lanterns from Hobby Lobby or other places for less money, either with candles you already have, or purchasing a brand like Mirage, here at Q.

I have 8 at different sizes.  I leave them out all year long in different locations.  One of them is in my guests bath on a little cabinet.  It provides just enough light to look comfortable.  The bathroom is mostly Americana like and I have the red 12" in there.  I love them.  Hoping you will love it too.

When you choose your lantern and candle separately, you can have more variety and different style, like I did here.20170309_183234.jpg

@Mominohio, well I ended up not ordering. I am wanting 3 lanterns to put on fireplace, and I do think I may like something a little more ornate. Not that I am a fancy person, I guess my style would be traditional, and a little boring to be honest.

I am afraid to try new things, although I could send these back. I have gone back and forth all afternoon. I haven't spent much on my firepace decor, so I feel fine splurging a bit. I just want to love it....

Your pictures are very nice. You obviously know how to decorate Smiley Happy

I know how it feels to want to make something happen, especially something kind of big, like step into something new with the lanterns like you are contemplating, but also wanting to be sure that you choose correctly the first time.

The great thing about lanterns is that they are popular, can be found in many places, and many more will be coming down the pike!

Take your time and have fun deciding.
