Luminara Candles....What Happened?

Have other people noticed that Luminara candles have gotten very expensive? I recall buying a few sets of various heights in sets of 4 that were actually affordable about a year or two ago. I iwish they would have another TSV on them, need plain ivory set of 2 or 4 in 7 inch.

Same thing that happened to shoes, apparently.

Re: Luminara Candles....What Happened?

@gigy  Try online at Bed Bath and Beyond.  They have a 7" candle on clearance for $24.99, and with a 20% coupon, it puts it at $20.  Buy 2 with 2 coupons and you'll get free shipping.

They are the ones you can put scents in - I just use them as regular 7" ivory candles, and have had no issues so far.  They are beautiful.

There are also the 6" wide ones available at Brookstone online - I got two of those and they are from $35.99-$39.99 depending on what sales are going on.  Plus they have discount codes on line.  Free shipping is going on now - code on line.

Here are the 6" ones I got, they aren't on until later in the day (on a timer).candle.jpg

Luminara has been expensive for a long time.  The only time I buy is when there is a special and the candles are unique.

Re: Luminara Candles....What Happened?

This thread made me go look (here) to see if there was a big jump, but from what I can tell, they prices look the same to me as they have been.

I will caution, that you have to read the descriptions of some of the single candles very closely, as they are now offering some huge and fat candles and they are a bit pricey. If you just look at the picture and price, you don't realize just how big they really are. Some are like 6 inches in diameter, and 14 inches high.

The sets of four come in at the same price I've noticed before (when they aren't a TSV or a one day only or something).

With the advent of Candle Impressions Mirage line, and the Bethlehem Lights moving flame candles, Luminara are over priced in my opinion, in general. There is a lot of competition, and again in my opinion, The MIrage line in particular has much better wax (and I prefer the flicker over Luminara too).

There are a lot of different wax/textures in Lumninara out there that Q doesn't seem to be interested in carrying, and I don't know why.

Re: Luminara Candles....What Happened?

My very first Luminara were the original QVC glitter candles. I purchased 3 in ivory for under $30.00 each (I believe they were around $25.00). They're a really nice, big size, & wonderful quality.

Now when I see one I like, I can't believe the prices. For example, I like the darker colored, large diameter birch Luminara. They're so expensive!

@gigy

You can find the smaller Luminaras at Bed, Bath, and Beyond.....and you might be able to find a coupon for BB&B too........

Hobby Lobby has them too but my closest store only has ivory....but if they have a coupon that helps too....

One thing that adds a cost to their sets is they include the remote and I have this huge collection so I dont need it and it adds $10 to the price....I wish we had the option to purchase with or without the remote.............

I like Luminara. But, they've always been expenssive. I've gotten a few when they were TSV's. Not in my budget.

Re: Luminara Candles....What Happened?

Luminara to me has always been expensive and yes overpriced.   Though I too  am guilty of purchasing several I would not buy anymore.  The glitter candle they had several years ago only lasted through the Christmas season and never worked again after that!  Way too expensive for that quality.   I have lanterns but only bought the ones where the candle is removable in case this happens again.  I have several Candle Impressions that I've had for years and they still work great!
