Using very little money attempting to be creative....reducing the wall clutter and patterned wallpaper will go a long way towards improving the room.  I would probably clean out most of the room and start with just the sofa and table.  Just too many  tchotchkes

i agree that it looks like something a college student would put together.  for that age bracket, it's perfect!
