List THREE of your best household habits.

Not all habits are bad.

We all have some good habits that help to keep our homes clean, functional and beautiful.

It's hard to choose three, because I'm a pretty organized person, but I'll start with these:

  1. I wash and iron my "fussy" laundry on Sunday, so I can start the week with everything I need.
  2. I post a weekly calendar where DH and I can share all our appointments, errands and to-do lists.
  3. I create a weekly menu and grocery list and shop every Saturday.

Can you list three of yours?

Re: List THREE of your best household habits.

Before I leave a room I look around to see if anything is out of place and needs to be put away.I always clean up as I cook so there is less mess after.i plan dinner in the morning so that I can pick up whatever I will need while I am out during the day.

Re: List THREE of your best household habits.

1. Saturday - DH cleans kitchen & vacuums and mops floors in house. I clean the bathrooms and dust all rooms. All dog blankets and throws laundered.

2. Monday - Sheets, towels, and underwear are laundered.

3. Friday - All clothes are laundered.

Since we are both retired we can be a bit flexible in our schedule, but we tend to stick to this unless we have appointments or events scheduled that day.

1. Mantra: “The More I Do Now, The Less I Do Later”

2. Shred important paper work a little bit every week.

3. Incorporate a card system (something I used at work, as well)

to do a little chore each day....to stay on top of things on a

daily/weekly/monthly/yearly basis.

@house_cat one of my lifelong goals is to start doing weekly menu planning (and then actually cook those meals) and grocery shopping on a consistent day.  I am trying to get there.

Re: List THREE of your best household habits.

I am a really neat person and want my home tidy and ordered all the time. I never have unmade beds or dishes in the sink......I just can't stand that.

I don't have a set plan for cleaning and I don't make lists. If something bothers me in the house, I just take care of it right away and I don't let items pile up.

I cannot think or function well in an untidy space.

Re: List THREE of your best household habits.

It is just my husband and I and our home is not large.

But we keep it clean on a daily basis, so less to do on weekends!

We Grocery shop together on Sundays after church for the week...

We shred as it comes in so we don't have so much paper lying about....

1.As taught to me by a dear departed fellow teacher: never go up or down the stairs empty handed.

2. Papers/ bills are dealt with every day. They go right to the bill pay basket or recycling. Never accumulate

3.When you have a child/ children, give them daily chores that are age appropriate as well as a daily schedule for doing them. Life skills. Start young! A toddler can put their toys away while you all sing the Cleanup song. Everyone in the family eats every day- everyone contributes every day, too (except maybe Sunday).

Bonus: Having less stuff in every category makes keeping a safe, healthy, clean, organized home easier- even if you have multiple kids and pets!
