We have  been doing repairs on the house over the summer and one of the repairs was replacing all the windows... I had to  move furniture and such with the window install and lots  of extra  cleaning inside after moving everything and seeing all the filth😮.

We have the same furniture that we bought in 1991... and I had not moved or changed anything in over 26 years!  I had cleaned around everything if you know what I mean....

So we rearranged the furniture... cleaned and dusted and decluttered everything.  I love the new look even without new furniture!  I was tempted to replace the frontroom  furniture, but just moving it around gave it new life again.

I think we get into a comfortable  rut of sorts and just do not see the dust, clutter and such build up over years of living in the same space.

Replacing the windows was a big job, but it got me to clean rooms  and get things updated.  Now I have beautiful windows to look out of, and am enjoying my living space again.

I've learned to be very cautious about letting go of furniture. There are some pieces I've let go and not given a second thought. Most of them, though, I've come to regret, later wishing I'd kept them. Storage space is a big issue, but I'd love to have some of those pieces back to cycle through some of my rooms. I'd also note, in some instances the replacement pieces haven't stood the test of time remotely as well as the pieces I didn't keep. Keeping in mind that once a piece has been let go, there's no getting it back, I'm reluctant to let go of furniture.

After I saw the edited original post that included a picture, I'm so glad OP will be keeping them. Even in a man cave, she'll make them look great. Different pulls might give them a more masculine look.

I think if you refurbished them and added new draw pulls you might "love" them again. JMO Look through some house magazines and see if anything catches your eye on a style you might like.

I can totally relate to where you are with heavy furniture. I am there too.  I am ready for a nice light airy look as well and would love to not have heavy furniture to move around or look at.  I think it is time.  Plus, I am treasuring open space much more these days.

However, I really love those pieces just as they are. I wouldn’t change a thing, especially if they fit in the decor of the room.  I think it was a smart move to keep them - for now.

Those night stands you have are just beautiful, I love them. I'm just guessing but I think you might be sorry later if you let them go!

Thanks again for all the great thought-provoking replies.

As it turns out, I simply cannot let them go. They are such quality pieces of furniture and I am attached to them more than I knew. I will come up with some new look......just don't have much time right now, to think about it.

Those are beautiful pieces.  I would keep them.  To me, they look quite light and airy but my home has a lot of dark wood.
