Let There Be Light

[ Edited ]

Considering all the lights in this room, it still looks dark to me. I like the warmth & coziness of the room, & I like the colors they used, but I would need more light. Maybe the dreary day outside is a contributing factor?

I actually like design of the hanging lights, but I don’t think they work in this setting. They don’t seem to add enough brightness. The lights on the right wall remind me of lights over artwork in museums or theater wall lights.

I think this room is reading dark and dreary because we don't see any windows.

It needs more windows. I hate dark rooms unless I'm sleeping.

I have not been able to find another house that brings in all the light ours does. The only lights that get used in our house are in the bathrooms & kitchen.

It does appear to be on the dark side but I don't like really bright lighting anyway.  I think it's too harsh.

@magicmoodz   I didn't think there were any windows at first either.  I see now that there are windows on either side of the fireplace with window seats.

I think those light fixtures are rather outdated.  Not a big fan of the room in any lighting, but yes, it does appear very dark.

Hi there @wilma -

Oddly - even to me, I really LIKE this room.

The art, the plant, the curtains the cushy couch and pillows - all of it.

Usually I'd think it looks crowded, but I find myself thinking this room is calm and warm.

I like it just like it is.

There are a few things in this room I like, but I don't like the light fixtures, or the window treatments at all. I think with different brighter light fixtures, this room could look a whole lot different! The windows are small, but I also think it could be the time of day when this was taken as well. I do like the Fireplace, the candlesticks and the chair and coffee table though!

Yuck!  That room needs lightened up.

I am not a fan of warm neutrals, but if the walls and ceiling were painted a light cream color, it wouldn't look like a cave lit with flashlights.

Those ugly window treatments look like bat wings which adds to the cave like appearance.

I think maybe the picture was taken on a rainy day or at dusk.

I don't like the light fixtures, curtains, pillows, or wall color.

I would really like the room with cream walls, and soft blue, pale green, and cream throw pillows.
