Re: Lenox TSV, Anyone buying?

I inherited the family Christmas decorations from my mother.  I have no children, my niece has no children, and she doesn't want them, so over the next year or so I am going to clean out all of it ... save a box or two and give the rest to Goodwill or Salvation Army.  I think these Lenox ornaments are adorable, but they would be just more "stuff" to get rid of down the road.

I am passing on these as well. I have too many ornaments I could fill up 3 huge trees. I plan on giving some away this year.

PeterDM bugs me too! Not ever heard the Len OX pronounciation either.

I don't think they look like Lenox.  They don't appeal to me.  They're made for QVC, and I wonder if a different factory than the one they usually use made them.

Re: Lenox TSV, Anyone buying?

As much as I really don't care for Christmas in July weekends.... I DID buy the Lenox set. Every year I make my special Christmas cookies and box them for the other members of the family. I also include some Harry & London's chocolates, a small (really good) fruitcake, and put in an Ornament.    I think these are lovely and just the right price!

I'm so sorry you have no one interested in your family treasures. Things passed down are so very special. Would there perhaps be anyone more distant, that would treasure some of them, even a distant cousin or something like that. The only reason I ask, is I have seen, over and over again, people clean out and give away family handed down items, only to find out later, someone in the family really would have loved to have them. The one disposing only asked so far out in the family tree, and just assumed that no one else would be interested. Would there be anyone more distant you could offer a chance to look at them?

Even giving them to Goodwill, someone will find them a treasure and enjoy them. Best wishes for cleaning out, and making life more simple.

Re: Lenox TSV, Anyone buying?

Well, call me a flip flopper, as I'm now considering these.

I hadn't really thought about it, as I don't want another set of ornaments, but I'm going to two baby showers next month. Instead of buying off their registries, I had decided to buy books, nice quality ones for each of the babies. I think a first ornament would be a nice addition to that gift, and a couple of these are just perfect for newborn's first year.

I find that many new mothers have loaded their registry with so many things they will never use, or will use for such a short time, especially with firstborns. They don't have any concept of just how fast the baby grows and changes, and both of these babies are being born into families that are buying every baby item and clothing line in sight. I thought books and a nice ornament would be much better appreciated on down the line, when all the diapers and onsies and baby gadgets are long gone and forgotten. Hope they like the gifts.

I will also be able to give two to a couple of my adult cousins who lost their parents within weeks of each other a couple of years ago. I have given them each a nice ornament every year since, as a remembrance to their parents.

That will take care of most of the set, and I can save my favorite one for me!

I gotta stop watching Q, they can talk me into anything.

I wonder how many they brought in...last show I think they said @85,000 had been ordered! I haven't caved though!

Re: Lenox TSV, Anyone buying?

Sadly, Lenox went to outsourcing most of their decor items overseas several years ago. The formal china pieces are still made here.

Their decor items are made with Lenox china and not inferior quality materials. I don't have any of their ornaments but a do have a couple of their holiday decorative serving bowls.

I have 2 sets of Lenox china and their decor items are the same Lenox china composition as their fine dinnerware.
