I am looking at a higher end laminate flooring for several rooms in my house.  Can anyone give me an idea about how much it would cost installed? I know the price of the flooring varies and I'd say this one is on the upper end.

My floor guy generally charges a set price per square foot.

Re: Laminate flooring question

We just put it in our FR and its approx 225 square feet. We got one that has a lifetime warranty and when all was said and done it was about $1100 I think.

I had "complications"............my slab was uneven (wavy) and had to be ground down before the subflooring could be put down.    Extra delay--extra charge.   The total was around $7,000 for about 1,000 sqft.   That included closets, baseboards, etc.

Re: Laminate flooring question

We had this type of flooring installed about ten years ago and it was about one third the cost of the flooring.  There are a lot of variables with this because flooring is so competiitive: number of rooms, number of installation crew, number of thresholds and special cuts, are you inserting special patterns, etc. Call around to the different merchants and ask for guesstimate costs. Note: compare the warranty on the flooring and the installation.  This is usually the tie breaker fo rme.

Re: Laminate flooring question

Our laminate on the first floor covers about 1100 sq. feet.  Between the material and the labor I think it was about 6,000.  We bought the flooring from Costco and our house builder worked by the hour.

Wow, laminate flooring is reasonably priced but I did not know the installation is that expensive because my husband installed some in a few rooms.

It wasn't very difficult for him either, just time consuming. I'm mentioning this for those of you that are handy at tackling home improvement.

I like the laminate flooring. It looks good and is extremely durable.

We did a high end laminate in a hallway - just the hall - about 20ft long - and it was $1200 including installation here in SW Florida.  However, it is beautiful and was well worth it. The way it worked for us was we went to the showroom and chose one we thought we liked. The salesperson came and measured and gave us the price, and about 3 weeks later it arrived at the door. It has to sit in your house a few days to adjust to your temperature and humidity then they came and it was all installed in one day. A large part of our cost was that we have a lot of doorways into other rooms so we had to pay for transitions for those places and where it was carpet we had to pay for a carpet man to come and finish the carpet edges after the floor was done.I have white baseboards so we had to buy quarter round and paint it white for them to hide the edges of the laminate then when it was done we had to paint the baseboard and the quarter round again to match. They wanted $500 to do all that painting but we did it ourselves to save that.

Re: Laminate flooring question

Check Kronoswiss laminate. It is made in Switzerland and not pricey, $1.99. Great site is Best laminate in Ohio and PA.

It is easy to install, look around for honest people, sounds like some people got ripped off.

My DH will install it himself in our daughters new home.
