Ladies, Is there a way to 'mend' a broken taper?

Hi, I have a pair of tapers & one broke near the bottom. These tapers are not easy to replace & I would like to be able to light it for at least a little while. Is there a way to mend it? Should I try and break the other candle in the same area? The holder holds the 2 pieces together, bit I'm afraid to light it since it is not secure. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
