A few years ago I purchased Luminara Candles that went into an unusual flickering motion after a week or so. When I turned the candle off for a while and turned on it was ok for a while but began unusual, annoying flickering again. If anyone has ordered the candles recently can tell me if this problem has been fixed or did they experience the same annoying flickering motion after a week or so of usage. I am thinking of ordering again, but do not want to spend money on returns if this problem has not been fixed. Thanks

Luminara candles have a "flashing" effect when the battery is running low. Could that be what you are experiencing? A week is too short of a time for your battery to be running low, though. Try a brand new set of batteries and see if that helps. I have a few Luminara candles on the 4-hr. timer and the batteries tend to last 2-3 months.

Make sure the candles are on a flat level surface. Mine don't flicker like crazy. They all have a nice slow flicker like a real candle. Many people think they are real when they come over my house.

For us, that 'annoying' flickering happens when the battery needs to be replaced/recharged. Sometimes if you just turn the candle off for several hours/days, the batteries seem to work fine again for a very short period of time, but revert to the 'annoying' flickering again because they are almost dead...it's kinda like an fyi system...change the batteries!
We buy rechargeable ones.
Anyway, maybe your batteries were old or low on 'juice' when you put them in your candle. Ours last at least 3-6 weeks or more with fully charged batteries ![]()

Thank you all for your responses. I believe I did change the batteries. But I think I will try again and see what happens. Thanks again.

Just because you change the batteries, does not mean they are good/charged. Just because you buy brand new batteries, does not mean they are either still fully charged or good...sometimes they can be duds even if they have not technically expired.
I highly recommend to folks that they invest in a battery recharger. The better ones that have indicator lights which tell you as soon as you put a battery in if it's fully charged or not...and they are worth the extra money. We have saved oodles over time buy buying rechargable batteries too.
Some folks may have used some of their batteries, then take them out of whatever they were in (at the same time they were still working)...then forget down the road that they were previously used (now only have about half, if not much less 'juice' left in it when used again. Then they wonder why the object only lit for a few hours/days.
There have been many times that brand new batteries we have bought needed to be charged. Over time, batteries do lose their charge...
Lastly, of coarse there are some decor products that are REAL battery eaters, no doubt about it. However, I don't believe Luminara is one of them...hth ![]()

Are you talking about the light going crazy, like blinking or strobing really fast? Or, are you talking about the moving flame doing something odd with the motion itself, not the light?
If it's the light, like others have said, it sounds like the batteries. My Luminara outdoor candles do the obvious blinking on and off when the batteries get low. My Luminara wax 360* scalloped top pillars, which are a new style from last year, do this crazy fast strobe-light thing when their batteries get low. I've always had either action correct itself with new batteries.
I do always test all my new batteries with a battery tester, like the one below, before using them. I do this because I've experienced duds right out of the battery package before. I ordered my tester from a catalog years ago, but I think they are readily available now. HTH!

What is the cost of a good rechargeable battery device.
thanks

Has anyone ordered these candles and been shocked by the smell? The smell is SO strong and the description says nothing about them being scented. I ordered 2 sets of 4 and by the time I had unwrapped only 2 candles my whole house reeked!! Going back. I am so sad because I love the look.

Hi mickie, which ones did you order? I got two of the scroll ones today and they are fine, no strong smell. Are you talking about the sets that like $80+?
