I have been making simple scarfs that I can knit while watching TV. But how many scarfs can I knit! I only like to use nice yarns and the prices are so high.

Same here. I've been knitting those little square dishcloths out of cotton yarn, while sitting in front of the T.V. I made some and gave them to the girls at the office for Christmas and everybody loves them, saying what a good job they do! Before my granddaughter was born in October, I made a baby afghan for her. I used to knit all kinds of things for my boys when they were little - mittens, scarves, sweaters, etc. but now I just knit simple things that don't require much concentration, just to keep from falling asleep in front of the T.V. after working all day! {#emotions_dlg.blush}

Knit Picks dot com recently released several new free dishcloth patterns.

I, too, love to knit and find it very relaxing. I'm currently working on a baby blanket for my friend who will become a grandmother in May. It's so simple to knit but works up beautifully. I get a lot of free patterns from Ravelry...a website I highly recommend as did Golfing Nancy.

kathoderay: would you be kind enough to share where you found the pattern for the Drop Stitch Scarf? It's very lovely. I have some drop stitch patterns but don't care for them but yours is delightful. Thanks so much and happy knitting. When I was teaching we had an after school knitting club and called ourselves the Knit Wits. We made a lot for kids in need.

I have not knit for a long time, but used to do sweaters. This year I have been thinking about doing a shawl for myself. Maybe I should, hummm.

I do more crochet and have taught a couple of daughters of friends, but overall both skills seem to be dying out. It is such a pity.

The "place" to be for knitters and crocheters is Ravelry.com. Not dying out there. I think there are over 2 million members.

I love knitting.....and everything that goes with it! I really adore beautiful yarn, and have quite a huge stash. I love going to the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival every year, seeing vendors from all over the country, and buying the most gorgeous yarn.

Right now I am making lots of scarves and mittens and hats! Fun, not too demanding, and really necessary.

I have designed my own version of Isaac's cashmere eternity scarf. I saw him one day as he explained that the perfect measurement is 12x56, so I used two strands of mohair and one of Brown Sheep's "Lamb's Pride"........used huge needles, and finished in two evenings!

Wow, is it warm! I wrap it twice around, so its snug around my neck. I am always cold, so the mohair and wool combination is delicious.

Getting ready to start a big sweater, with seed stitch and lots of cables!

To Kathoderay: like the scarf u made, I've done some lace knitting but find that u really have to concentrate, I love Raverly too, I've done quite a few KALs , I did two with Stephen West. There're a great shawl I did from Raverly called Color Affection , came out so pretty, and I learned how to do short rows too! It was very popular. u made! I've made some lace knitted shawls, they look beautiful when done , but take a lot of concentration while knitting. I too love Raverly and go to the site often, like to see what everyone's made, I've also joined quite a few KALS , done two Stephen West shawls!

What I love about this lace pattern, there's only two rows in the pattern repeat where you have to concentrate. Since there's only 26 stitches in the row, so it's really easy to remember, and fix if you mess up!
