Kitchen shelves Take 1

[ Edited ]

Okay I did a little shopping on my day off and found two small purple glitter boxes. I may put my tea bags or spices or something else in there so I don't junk up the counters too much.   I also found my Mardi Gras masks which are purple and silver and moved them up top since that's a decor only space.

I found my grandmother's old Sunbeam Mixmaster too and cleaned up the worst of it.  It still needs a true bath but I put that up there and that's my favorite configuration so far although that mixer is heavy and I'm not sure about it up there long term with its weight.

I also tried out putting some of my smaller dishes in a rack because my mother said that was what was done back in the day.  Don't think I like that.

Anyway, it's a start.  Feel free to tell me what you like, don't like, hate, think is stupid, etc.  I know this isn't a whole lot of people's tastes and I still think it needs something more.

Looking good!  Love the black feathers.  I dont care much for the plates in the rack, I do like the old mixer.   Maybe you could find a small stand to display the mixer if you have the space in your beautiful new kitchen.

I love it but I'm partial.

I have masks all over my bedroom walls.

I'm with you on the plates and your mom is right.

The mixer looks great there actually.

If you take down the mixer, a covered cake plate would look good.

And you can actually make one because the nice ones are really pricey.

But when you don't pay a lot, you don't feel bad when you get tired of it!

Go on Pintererst, tons of ideas on how to make one.

It's a pedestal (short candlestick?) with any plate on top then turn a pretty bowl upside down on it.

Also wanted to mention Michael's has a coupon weekly as well.

Getting there!

I agree the mixer is probably too heavy. I think if your going to be doing any cooking in that kitchen those feathers are going to get filthy with greasy dirt and you won't be able to clean them.

I'm personally not a fan of shelves in a kitchen unless you are never going to cook there. I would only consider putting items that can be washed up there.

Of the two versions shown, I like the mixer better. Whatever you choose will be right, for you. Enjoy making this "your" home.

I prefer the mixer instead of the plates on the rack and I would move the mask with the black feathers to the center.

@CelticCrafter  I actually had it there and I thought maybe it should be on the end.  I'll switch it again and see how it looks.

@software  What a cool idea!  I actually have Michael's member coupons burning all around me.  I may just do that.

@Imaoldhippie  I actually think I am going to put the mixer in the counter corner by the refrigerator so it's out and displayed but in a safe place.

Love your mom's mixer. What a special reminder to have.
