Re: Kitchen Islands; what's your preference?

I would definitely like an island with seating and a sink.

I have the same arrangement.  I do have chairs at the island also.

I currently have an Island with seating.

I wouldn't mind having a smaller 2nd sink on the island but not a cook top.

The small 2nd sink would be great for chopping vegetables, food prep etc.

I like just the workspace. 4F35338B-23D8-47D5-89AC-55CD62CA79DC.jpeg

We have two islands, one with a sink and dishwasher.

The other is eleven feet long and has barstools.
I like our arrangement.

The island in my kitchen is simply a large workspace and seating for two.  I like it, but I miss eating at the table with my husband.  The island is convenient, but the seating is side by side so you're not facing each other.

Re: Kitchen Islands; what's your preference?

I started out with an island with a sink and seating on the other side.

When I updated the kitchen in 2015, I kept the sink in place, did away with bar stools, added more cabinetry for storage on that dining room side, topped by a much larger countertop.   Best decision ever, since I have a galley kitchen and needed more storage.

I don't have an island but if I did, I would want one with counter height workspace and bistro height stools.  Never could see having a sink or range in the island.  Splattering anyone standing near is not my idea of pleasant.

My kitchen island is just a work space.  My kitchen isn't all that big and I really like having extra counter space.

In the past I've lived in homes that had seating at the island but I just never cared for them. I've never been comfortable sitting on bar stools.  I prefer sitting at a table even if it's just to have a cup of tea.
