I don't think they should have done this so close to the other cabinets if they could not afford to update the other cabinets at the same time. Even just new hardware might have helped.

 

They are going to need some sort of vent above the stove, not just cabinetry.

 

Interesting idea, though, to break up a china cabinet and turn it into shelves (according the the Pinterest entry). Although it might have looked less awkward if they'd left the china cabinet alone and just placed it against the wall as a piece of furniture. Even the same paint color doesn't make it cohesive enough with the rest of the room.

The white appliances and counter top do not go with the cabinets IMO....I think the kitchen needs an entire remodel to showcase the 2 cabinets.
