Re: Kitchen: Before and After...

The second one is just like what you see on every kitchen makeover show. While it's very nice, I'd rather have kept some of the charm of the first picture. Wish I could have seen some other visions for that older kitchen.

The first one looks dingy and worn to me, the second is beautiful and light and I'd enjoy being there.

I think a new floor would do wonders to improve the look of the first one. The re-do is a bit generic, but attractive nonetheless.

Re: Kitchen: Before and After...

I prefer the first kitchen, but with a change in walls and flooring. I would not want to sit at an island in my kitchen.

My daughter's husband is a builder and added an addition to their

kitchen, and built new cabinets. He got rid of their table and chairs and put in an island and tall stools.

They always congregate in the kitchen and those stools are the

most uncomfortable things. My daughters and I are petites and

stools do not work for us.

For a work space, I think that islands are too tall too. I can't use my counters, when baking and cooking. The kitchen table

is the right height for me.

Tall men designed all these cabinets, counters and islands. Most women are not nearly six feet tall.

Re: Kitchen: Before and After...

While the 2nd one is beautiful there are things I would not want to give up in the first one.  That would be a kitchen sink in front of a window and table and chairs to eat at.

I liked both for different reasons, but I don't like sinks in islands.  I just know I would slop water over the back edge.  Besides, I'd rather look out the window when doing prep or clean-up work.

The only thing that just bothers me about the second photo is the white of the oven isn't the same white at the cupboards. The whites should be the same.

Re: Kitchen: Before and After...

The second picture looks exactly like almost every kitchen re-do in my neighborhood. It is far too sterile and bland for my taste. I would much prefer the first one with a few changes.

Re: Kitchen: Before and After...

I love the second one! I love the green. I would add more color.

I don’t really care for the first one. It feels like nothing goes together, and dislike the wallpaper and furniture style.
