Re: Kitchen: Before and After...

For me the first kitchen is the appealing one.  I am not an island fan and much prefer the table and chairs.  It is a warm inviting area and I do love the doors where you can enjoy nature as you have your meal.  It is just a very pretty setting! I am not a person who spends a lot of time in a kitchen but in this kitchen I would.

I honestly don't get the appeal of a white kitchen.

Re: Kitchen: Before and After...

It appears the 2 pictures were taken pointing toward the same wall looking at the French doors

I don't like the wall treatment in the first picture and would prefer the counter wasn't a big black "thing";  I would use off white.

I do prefer the wood flooring in the second picture, but the space looks "cold" to me.

Re: Kitchen: Before and After...

I actually don't care for either one but at least the first one is warm and inviting.  I'd paint where the wallpaper is, put down hardwoods or laminate flooring like the After kitchen and replace the table & chairs.  The after kitchen looks cold and sterile and is just not visually interesting whatsoever.  I do love the sleekness and simpler lines of the "after" though.

Re: Kitchen: Before and After...

I would take the second kitchen with a lot of tweaks. No wall oven, and no white appliances. Stainless would add more dimension and movement to the room.

I love all things modern. My home is modern. It’s not ultra-modern with all hard lines, but it’s sleek and modern. I love it. No clutter.

Re: Kitchen: Before and After...

I love the second one.

Love a white kitchen and a touch of green.

I lived with dark walls and kitchen for so long and now I'm enjoying lt gray and white walls and cabinets.

Re: Kitchen: Before and After...

I like the warmth and coziness of the 1st pic-do not like the Floors or the wallpaper, but love the French Doors.

The 2nd pic is a nice kitchen, but very cookie cutter and lacks warmth, but I do like the Island, especially the Green-thats a nice pop of color.....Wish they would have kept the French Doors in the 2nd pic!

I like the first one better. I don't like the wallpaper.

White kitchens are not for me. If it were a different color I would like it better. Plus get rid of the gold I hate it.

Re: Kitchen: Before and After...

I can't say that either is my ideal.  The worst part of the first kitchen is the tile floor with dark grout.

Both kitchens have that more "standard issue" feeling for their time --  the first, a 1990's vaguely Tuscan feeling, with the Italian chairs, iron chandelier and wallpaper.

The second kitchen is lighter, but the white is not warmed by other elements.   The rest, with the long, bar drawer handles, the prominent hood, the three pendants lined up, feels too much like a formula to me.  The rug seems not to relate to anything else.  I do like the green chair, picking up the color of the island. and the mid-toned wood floor.
