Found a beautiful summer, 100% cotton quilt I'd love to use this summer.
I don't like using a bedskirt, so how would a king size quilt fit on a queen size bed?

It would probably come to about half way to 3/4 down on sides. I have a king and the quilts I have just come down a few inches on the side.

daisyk - I'm going to go for it. Just a couple of dollars more. (PS - didn't mean to use the word ""summer"" twice in the sentence.)

Once I bought a king when a queen wasn't available. It overpowered the bed. I returned it.

I use a king sized one for my queen all the time. The only thing to watch out for is that if you are buying the matching shams (sometimes included) they will be for the bigger pillows.

Most provide measurements. Then you can go measure across your bed to see where it would fall.
I don't buy quilts anymore because I decided I prefer a bedspread that goes all the way to the floor around 3 sides. I tried the whole bedskirt thing for years and I just hated them. I also don't like having that area around the bed showing, so bedspreads work for me.
Like you, I also like 100% cotton. All my bedding, from the sheets to blankets to bedspread, is cotton.
But I'd say to just measure and get a feel for where it would fall. I would think that a King size would be good on a Queen bed because you'd just have that much more side and bottom end coverage.

A king quilt is the same length as a queen quilt so you only gain extra material on the sides of the bed. If the quilt doesn't have directionality in its pattern, though, and you can switch it so that the longest measurement goes from the head to the foot of the bed, it will give you better coverage than a queen, but not enough to hang to the floor.

I always buy a king quilt for my queen bed - the quilts shrink when washed and dried (and get quiltier)!
I use an eyelet bedskirt from Kohl's - the kind where you have to remove the mattress to place it squarely on box springs. I love this skirt - hate to see the dark hole under the bed - looks awful!

My bed is a queen size, but I always buy king size blankets and comforters for my bed, because I want more side coverage.
