Joy Mangano's Clean Boss Cleaner sold on HSN

Did anyone else buy this when it was a Today's Special on HSN?  I did, and I can't get it out of my house fast enough.  The smell is beyond atrocious. Since reviews are now posted on HSN, there are tons of people who also dislike the "scent."  Joy described it as "thyme."  After a few sprays, I thought, holy smokes, this is just like a bug spray.  Just called HSN Customer Service and asked for a prepaid mailing label so that I can return it without me incurring any cost.  They agreed with no argument.  I'm happy about that.

So if anyone else out there bought it, contact HSN 800-933-2887.

@BarbiHollywood  Thank you for this information.

My mom has a habit of ordering cleaning (junk!) from tv and this was the latest purchase! I just called her and relayed this information so she can send this nonsense back to HSN.

Thanks again!

@Major Shopper   You're welcome!  They were nice about it.  Happy to help.  She didn't like the SMELL either, huh??  B-A-D-D-D-D choice of scents.  Maybe a lemon or something like that would have gone over better.

@BarbiHollywood I don't know anything about this item. Were there other scents to choose from? I would never have picked Thyme, I don't like that herb anyway. Just wondering if it's this particular scent.

The product itself worked OK but I agree the scent was off putting.  Not a scent I want my home to smell like.

Wasn't this exactly what happened a few years ago with her cleaning product that smelled horrendous ?  I remember a short video where at the end of the day she went through her kitchen and spritzed it all over.

I vaguely remember returning it the moment I sprayed it in the sink.

Re: Joy Mangano's Clean Boss Cleaner sold on HSN

I laughed out loud when Iread this post because it reminded me of an experience I had

back in the 90s.  At the time it was said that Avon Skin-So-Soft could be sprayed on your window screens and it would keep mosquitos away.

I bought a big bottle and sprayed all the screens in the house.  OMG!  I thought it was probably true about the mosquitos, since the smell of that stuff would have kept any living thing away from the house.  It mercifully went away after a couple of days, but I could not believe that people would actually put that on themselves, let alone anything else.

Maybe the only thing that makes a mosquito bite the better option.

@jlkz    I made the mistake of ordering this a couple years ago.  It was the worst smell I have ever experienced in a cleaner.  Sent back immediately.

Re: Joy Mangano's Clean Boss Cleaner sold on HSN

Yes, this was the same issue from years ago.

Joy disappeared for a long time after first selling Clean Boss and people getting in an uproar over the smell.

Some here and on the HSN forum thought it was the downfall of her company.

Then she returned with the product for sale on her own website and eventually returned to HSN.

I thought maybe they toned down the smell.

Guess not.

From Clean Boss:

Powered by Thymol, a derivative of Thyme Oil found naturally in the Thyme Plant. CleanBoss Disinfectant has no bleach, no chlorine, no ammonia, no phosphates, no phthalates, no formaldehyde, no petroleum, no heavy metals, no parabens, no dyes, no caustic fumes, no toxic or harsh or caustic chemicals. Safe for food contact surfaces, no rinse required, CleanBoss has all of the power and none of the scary warnings.

It's the Thymol in Clean Boss that people have an issue with.

From Google:

"Thymol isn't the best-smelling substance you'll ever encounter. It's described as phenolic, medicinal, camphor, woody, and spicy. Some people find this odor downright offensive, especially if used in large amounts."
