New refrigerators do make quite a bit more noise than older models, the humming, thumping and popping are unnerving at times. Don't know if your new one is doing anything excessive, but when I moved to a place with a newer model refrigerator it took some getting used to and sometimes it's still bothersome.

You're not crazy homedecor. We have a Samsung French Door fridge, freezer on the bottom with icemaker inside freezer-- about 3 years old.
It is noisy. It makes some of the weirdest noises you ever heard! It takes some getting used to. I thought the thing was blowing up in the beginning, but as you mentioned, it is the twin cooling system.
I have grown used to it's noise, because I love it so much in every other respect.

I really want to upgrade my almost 20 year old side by side frig- I love the french door style. About a year or 2 ago I looked into it, consumer reports didn't rave about anything under $2500! My current frig works fine, it's very quiet too. It's a kenmore, maybe sticking with the same brand is the key?

I've had my Samsung French Door fridge for about 4 months now. It sounds "different" from my old one (KitchenAid), but it's actually pretty quiet. My kitchen is open to my dining room/living room, and I only hear it kick on if I'm in the kitchen...and after that, I don't really notice it. For comparison, I can faintly hear my dishwasher in the living room, but not the fridge.
We don't have an icemaker or water dispenser...wonder if that's what's making the noise?

We have a 4-door-French door Samsung. While it is louder than our other older fridge and while I do notice it more, it's not a big problem to us. There are times when I'll hear it and think, "What in the world is that noise?" But then I realize it's the fridge and then I don't hear it anymore. Maybe you just have to get used to it?

I don't know, but I feel for you. I'm sensitive to sounds and that would drive me crazy. I truly hope you find a resolution.

WOW! We're considering replacing all our appliances in our kitchen--they're all 12 years old--and we're having enough problems finding the right size fridge. Never thought about the noise factor. We would not want an icemaker. Seriously considering a Whirlpool because the size is a good fit but will have to check out any info on how noisy it is. We currently have a GE top freezer which is pretty quiet but we would like a bottom freezer.
Thanks for the heads up on the noise issue.

That would drive me up the wall! Can you trade for another frig from the vendor and pay a little more? Who knows? Beg your case. I'd get in touch with Samsung corporate.

We came into a house with a new Samsung that has the same door configuration as yours. Ours isn't loud like yours, but we have other complaints about it. I'd NEVER purchase a Samsung and am glad we didn't purchase the one in our kitchen right now.

Hope you can find a solution to your problem.

My goodness the fridge has only been in my home 5 days!!!! Famous Tate will NOT send a technician ...omg I can see this is going to be a ""nightmare"" to resolve! Guess I'm learning everyday things just aren't like they used to be!!! But I'm not giving up!!
Just read this response. Does one of your local TV channels have a consumer reporter who takes on difficult cases? I've seen these folks solve some really tough ones. How about getting in touch with one of your local channels and ask for their consumer advocate. You never know.
