Is your yard fenced? - Page 2

We moved into our new home 2 years ago and yes, the first thing we did was fence our yard with a privacy fence. From the sides of the front of the house all the way around the perimeter. I have 2 chihuahuas and a yorkie that need a safe place to run.

Half is fenced. Between me and the next door neighbor and back around my garage.

Our yard had a wooden 6' ft fence on one side of the backyard & a 6' chain link on the other side but no fence along the back.

We put up the 6' wooden fence across the back & 6' wooden fence on the side with the chain link fence because we wanted privacy. Neighbor did not like we installed the wood fence next to his chain link but since we now know them it was probably the best thing we could have done. LOL!!!

We installed a huge 16 x 32 above ground Doughboy swimming pool. Our yard is fenced but there was not another fence around the pool.

Now the wind has blown down the side of the fence that was here when we bought the house. We know the neighbor that owns that house now will not repair it so we are stuck doing it. He would only scab the fence together like he has the other side of his fence. That's not happening in my yard. We don't do things like that. We are not slobs.

When part of the back fence blew down we replaced it & the guy living behind us wanted to help pay for it but wanted us to install a neighbor friendly fence. We told him No Thanks it was our fence we paid for it & we would install it how we wanted it. I don't know why it matters to him or why he would want to pay for part of it since he rents that house?

We have to have the fence installed with all the runners facing the neighbors instead of us because we are the ones that have to fix it when it has damage.

It's a good thing part of it blew down so DH is able to get to the other side to remove the rest of it now without having to ask the neighbor to let him in his yard. He won't answer his door & has a sign on it saying get off his property he has a gun & it's not worth dying for??? He's such an AH.

Every home in this area has a wood fence. I also keep my gate locked.

I'm in the same boat as you, @ccassaday. I did put up a black chain-link fence coming off the backdoor for my furbaby. After putting it up, I was told by a trainor that dogs actually love being fenced in as it gives them a protected feeling! And, a neighbor's dog has a habit of running away - he always comes here. Once I left the gate open so he just meandered in and his daddy found him just enjoying laying the the fenced in area.

I figured the neighbors would #itch once it was up since I'm on a hill and that side borders neighbors. But, people actually came over and told me how much they liked it! I prefer the chain-link 'cause guess I'm a little claustrophobic and it doesn't block the views at all. My fence is a little over 5' high. In my town, no permits are required if the fence isn't over 6' - saves the hasstle, time and money.

For me a fence is a must, I like my privacy.

Only about 1/2 acre of our property is fenced in. That way the dogs can run when they want to. Wish we could fence in all of it but cost is prohibitive.

Right now Chloe has a 100ft lead she goes out on if it’s not muddy. Can’t wait to get grass. Our neighbors dog sometimes comes over when she is out to say hi. lol. We are hoping the developer doesn’t give us ****** when we approach him about putting one up. My sisters is black and it blends right in. Ours at our old house was geeen.

No. We have almost 4 acres, over 1 acre of yard. Would be very costly and probably look out of place in our environment.

Prior to building our home I lived for a short time in my uncle's house in a small 2 street development (it wasn't a gated community). No one there had/has a fenced yard.

When I rented in our small town, all the backyards on our street were separated by a fence, usually chain link. No fences in front of the homes.

I'm with you @Pook

In NY, we pay incredibly HIGH taxes. I don't appreciate being told what I can or can't do in my overtaxed area!

Having said that...we built all 3 homes...and fenced all 3 homes ourselves.

Our very first home, the fences were 'forced' on us. Both sides and the back were fenced by neighbors. Then 3 of us all got built in pools, so mandatory FULL fenced in yard.

I was NEVER a fence person...now? I wouldn't go w/o one. I like my privacy and my doggies LOVE running around without being attached to a leash!

I don't like anyone looking at me while I am in the pool.

In the development we chose for the second home, it had restrictions no fence unless you had a built in pool, which is NYS law.

We knew we were getting another pool, so we built there anyways.

This last home had no restrictions. We got yet another pool and fenced in quite a bit more of the yard this time...not just the pool. With this weather? We will be lucky to be swimming by July!!!
