Re: Is there a relationship between thread count and the term "percale" ?

Wonderful answers Ladies, and very much appreciated.

Another question- now that I know the difference between Percale and higher thread count, IS THERE an advantage to higher thread count sheets, and if so, what is it?

The higher the thread count, the denser the weave. It will give you more durability.

Manufacturers have even figured out how to cheat on thread count.  Instead of weaving threads side by side as they should, they twist two together and still claim a high thread count.

For me there is nothing like crisp percale, the smooth sheets just don't feel right.

I agree and I find they don't wrinkle easily as was noted above, and often come out of the dryer in much better shape than high thread count bedding.
