My daughter has lovely antique satin curtains in her bedroom, but they aren't insulated. She went to Wal Mart and bought the insulated, room darkening curtains and put those up behind her curtains. She can pull them aside during the day if she wants to, but most of the time she just lets them hang behind her curtains.

They seem to work really well for her.....but then, she is trying to keep the heat from the sun out and the air conditioning in.
