Think about it, it's not likely anyone's going to be thrilled to inherit it... If you want, for sentimental reasons, keep a piece or two of it, but why keep it just to take it out occasionally to look at and have to clean!?
Who said I don't use it? I took it out to set the table and it was all tarnished. Geeze - people do jump to conclusions on these boards. it really isn't mine to sell even if I wanted to - it belongs to my husband - it was his mothers and his grandmother's before that. And I happen to enjoy having beautiful things like crystal and china and silver. To set a special table for my friends and family when they visit is a joy to me.
I am always amazed at how the people here do not understand about sentimental value of items that have been owned by ancestors.
Funny, never heard this one before. What hogwash.
Over the holidays she bashed those who had a formal table. She couldn't be bothered. For those who enjoyed posting tablescapes, well that was a bother too. Oh and they were going to the beach for a holiday dinner. And then yes, there are so many little ones coming over that it wouldn't be practical to own anything of the sort. So she uses Dixie.
As one poster said good table linens, china, crystal, sterling is all an investment. You learn how to care for it.
The only thing she's storing in a Ziploc bag are the plastic sporks from the hospital cafeteria.

There is nothing the OP said that warrants bashing of her.

Well then, that is what YOU should do, because that makes you happy. However, I feel differently so I should do what makes ME happy with my belongings.
I honestly don't know why anyone bothers to answer you or help you with anything. Why do you ask questions, then snap at the responses?

Oh stop the whoa is me act. It's old and played out, especially by you.
Your post #44 was rude and condescending. A couple of your posts in here were rude and condescending.
When you dish it out, expect to have to take some of it too.

DH had a new plastic package of underwear melt and stick to one of his collector guns. It had to be re-blued by the factory. That happened during a summer when it was blazing hot. I'd be afraid of the same thing happening to the silver.

I think she was mean-ish in her reply to Sunshine45. HH thinks it's sad young people don't see the beauty of silver ware, crystal and fine china and S45 was suggesting she use hers everyday to enjoy it. HH's response seemed like yelling back at her "NO!!!!"

Oh, but don't you know that the rule is different for her? Soon we'll hear all about the 'mean girls' club. It doesn't get old; it's way overdue old IMO.
