Indoor water features. What say you?

[ Edited ]

The indoor tree thread got me thinking about bringing nature indoors.  I have always been drawn to water, so I investigated  some options:

Indoor Water Feature Wall Fountain

Indoor Water Feature Zen Style

Indoor Water Feature Under Staircase

Indoor Water Feature Lights Style

Indoor Water Feature Room Divider Style

14 Examples of Indoor Water Features – the House of Grace

I like some of them a lot.  Maintenance could be a challenge though.

I like the small waterfall under the stairs the most.  I would never have the larger pool type ones, they just take up too much space.  There is something tranquil with hearing the soft sounds of water.  Nice pictures.

I love them, if you have the right home for them. The photos are beautiful and I especially love the 1st photo. I had a co-worker once that had a most beautiful home and had a water feature in her foyer, it was so pretty and so welcoming when you walked in....

I love them in the right setting like in these photos!

I was wondering about the maintenance too.  I would prefer the water feature on my patio or in the garden.

Re: Indoor water features. What say you?

My aunt and uncle had an indoor water feature in their living room 50 years ago. It was on a wall and as a kid I thought it was the coolest thing.  I think the sound of water is calming but I’m not sure I would like one in my house due to upkeep or possible leaks.

I love all of these and the sound must be wonderful. That said I have a good friend who has an indoor lap pool and has not been able to sell their house for five years. So beware, if you have to sell your house this might be an issue.

I would never want a water feature indoors or out.  Too many maintenance issues and potential problems.

@faeriemoon  I really like the pictures and the sound of water is always calming.  My concerns are upkeep, regular maintenance, leakage, and mold.   None of those work for me.

The next time that I hear salt and ice together, it better be in a margarita!

A friend has an indoor/outdoor fish pond.  They go in and out under the foundation.  Love to watch it.
