Very cool.  That would confuse a burglar and possible knock him out if he went to climb. It also makes the room look spacious.

My best friend when I was growing up had a one story house.  There was a beautiful real staircase in her living room that went nowhere.  You could climb the stairs and hit a wall at the top.

Her parents built the house, but I could never get an answer what their plans were for that.

It's a NO from me.  And anyone who has balance issues would certainly never be able to tolerate the climb.  Very poor design.
